The Peacock: All eyes closed but not sleeping Empty The Peacock: All eyes closed but not sleeping

Post by farmer_broke Mon Jan 09 2017, 20:24

The following is a copy of three posts I made in a thread begun in the En Forum.  It may have appeal to players today although the posts are nearly a year old now.  The only change is that peacock are allowed for contribution to the storage facility.

Post Feb 10, 2016:

----------------

The Peacock is one of oldest animals in the game yet also the one with the least use. The animal is the only regular farm animal that has not been included in breeding. There is no related product and only a single use:

The Peacock may be contributed to any of the 15 steps of the Farming Contest which is the animal trophy (EV is 340)

I named my favorite priceless peacock "Mingling" after our dear friend.

The Peacock chain is as follows:

Produce blueberry (10 hrs no water or poo)
Mill three blueberries for one feed (6 mins 36 seconds, no mill subscription, mill tree rung unlocked)
Pen to produce the peacock with feed (15 hrs 30 mins, 4,800 ccs at level 54, no water or buffs)

The Peacock and the Peacock feed and the Blueberry, which has other uses, all have a market value. I vaguely remember a single call for peacocks quite a while ago.

...

Post Feb 26, 2016:

----------------------------------

Thank you very much for your strategies and comments. They will be kept in mind going further.

Presently I am doing nothing regarding the finished peacock holding just over 45,000. I am often tempted to cash in but continuing to hold and buy very cautiously and rarely anymore.

Peacock feed has risen largely due to speculation regarding the peacock and no related product thus increasing the demand. My feed level has remained at over 18,200 for a long while. Also the price of blueberry has risen due to sudden activity with the Alchemist craft. Holding over 255,000 blueberry I will not sell now.

This farm has not produced peacocks in a long while. It holds 128 pens. Production time is fast approaching again.

My strategy has been to bypass the only event call I remember as I wanted barns to empty of cheap peacocks. Nor has it run peacock feed in the mill in a while! The farm has a few blueberry refinements and the blueberry will be produced strategically during events. The farm will hold where it is.

Post May 7, 2016

-------------------------

Sold 100 peacocks last week at over 2,850 ccs. They were almost ready to come back to the barn though. The sale was really a forced sale. I had to run the market up to sell them. I made a little but not much. Shortly thereafter the price rose to 3,300 ccs. Blueberry has risen. I find no one buying peacock feed. Lots of 1's and prices so high for an animal with no use. Even submitting it for the animal trophy is not wise. No fsq, nothing! YET!

I'll put the peacock pens out when I catch up on the mouse feed and only to turn the cheap feed into the finished animal.

I'll play like lettuce but not much in it quickly just yet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several others posted in the original thread.

Perhaps it's time to cash in!

I have very few peacocks. For some reason I have always had an aversion to the peacock pen, since the time they were released I have refused to grow them. hmz2  Its irrational and I have no idea why. scratch head I have 500 that I have bought on the market when they were super cheap. Tried buying some pens and just couldn't go through with it. doh Guess I'll focus on the feed. I don't mind milling it. Grin

Why? Because it's UGLY. Same for me!! I've never wanted to grow them, only now that I have the menageries did I put in peacocks. That's a whole lot better, not having to see the pens! I only have 50 so far.

The CC may make up for it  giggle

Although the price is going down a bit again. Yesterday between 15-16k later on in the day it slowly went down to 12k, sort of steady at 12k still now.

Lol... what's wrong with the Peacock stables? scratch head  They look ok to me  thinking
Maybe I'm just biased when it comes to Peafowl (Peacocks are the males, Peahens are females) because I raise/breed them, and currently have 36 running around my ranch?   ghehe  I find them very elegant and majestic  heartbeat

Prices are in the 13,855 CC range in my market  making money

Oh peafowl are beautiful. My parents had a friend who raised them. We would go to her house and I loved watching them.
Its just in the game. I didn't think about the menagerie! head bang I think I'll be kicking out my dogs (poor puppies) and putting in the peacock pens!
The prices have been steadily rising in my market. They are up to 15k today.

Peacocks fell to just under 6,700 here (Market 40).  There are nearly 80 offers.

@GuineaUp
Thank you very much.  And thanks for reminding me to look into how threads are organized here.  I do have a few new topics in mind.

Guineaup - I apologize ahead of time, I am never gone to remeber the sorrect spelling of your name. I am notorious for shortening everyones name. Beyound 3 letters I go into a full on panic attach. Would you be offended if I shorten it to G-up?

Everyone, you can shorten my name to Zen.

Anyway, I was thinking of what I reading this thread as I drove around today. 36 Peacocks & hens. Wow! Your ranch sounds like a lovely place to live.

Also, I agree with Mamarae (Can I shorten it to Mama?) & Toekie. The Peacock stables are the 2nd ugliest pens. In my opinion the Kangaroo's are the ugliest. I won't put them out unless I absolutly have to.

Toekie your idea about putting them in a Manger (not the right word, but it is what I call them. Dyslexia is so much fun!)

Broke - So Peacocks are an unapperciated undervauled commodity. Hum! I might have to relook at my Peacocks.

I'm trying to get at least 8 of everything now....as there are a maximum of 8 slots in every menagerie. Sigh... lots to do on give and trade!

I agree! I only have 6 Pink Chickens and I want 8. I do have one manger up to 6 & the other up to 8.

@zensioux ... you can most certainly shorten my nick to G-Up, no worries :)  . I raise horses and Guinea fowl, so my nick/forum name is just a silly little play on words... Guinea Up instead of Giddy Up  big grin

Beside the Peafowl, Guinea Fowl and Horses I also raise Silkie Bantams (Fluffy Fuzzy Chickens), Heritage Turkeys, Coturnix Quail, and some Meat Goats as well (plus cats and dogs!)... and I have a BLM Burro and Miniature horse to watch over everyone  farmer
