Re: Elvenar
Here's the link to the international version:

I just luv the detail, and the blue color too....
In the beginning one chooses between humans in the middle ages, or elves.
I chose elves. Here you can see the differences in some of the buildings, (and there are LOADS of level ups, and then the building looks wholly different again, and its not that easy to level up after level 3.... level 25 is gonna be hard to reach!)
(if you keep clicking on this picture, it can open in browser, quite giganticly....

Tis game also works with plots, like farmerama. But, if you want to go FAST, you will spend money on diamonds, like we do on BB's.

Re: Elvenar
I'm playing Forge of Empires from the same developer. I find it a bit less buy-buy than Farmerama. Not tried Elvenar, even if the ads keep popping up everywhere - not yet :D

Re: Elvenar
Forge of Empires. I don't know it. Pleeeese enlighten me? how does it play for you?
What's fun about it?
(always looking for great new games, but I'm not easily satisfied when it comes to games!)
Can you avoid fighting? and if not, is it easy to do, cuz I'd like to get back to building....lol.
And I also am a bit scared of the possibilities of others ruining your land? do they? or can you just do your best, build and live and search and be left alone?
just wondering....

Re: Elvenar
I thought that layout looked familiar, lol. I used to play FoE too, Moraine, really liked that you could progress without feeling like you HAD to spend money on diamonds. I deleted my game 2 years ago when I (briefly) quit the farm, and won't go back, tho I was in a great guild. My leaving had nothing to do with the game, it was a good game.
Tookie, no, you don't have to fight if you don't want to. The pictures you show of Elvenar look very much like Forge of Empires, where you build and grow. In FoE, you start in cave man era and work your way forward, gaining advancements in housing, production, and yes, military as well, as you work your way forward thru various eras. I think I was up to modern, since I could build paved roads and had cars. Your production buildings can get raided, but it's usually not that big a deal, you just have to repair the building and it will begin production again. For the most part there weren't many who raided once they grew large enough not to need the extra resources (there's almost always dormant cities to raid if you want, so you're not impinging on any one), but once in a while there's someone who feels the need to blackmail smaller/newer players by threatening to attack daily if they don't receive forge points (not sure how to describe those, but you get one an hour to spend on various upgrades and the like). My experience, tho, was that they'd grow tired and forgetful quickly unless you ticked them off. All in all, I found it to be a nice, non-stressful, enjoyable game to play.
I also used to play Howrse (US, not international), and liked that, but deleted my account there the same time I quit FoE. It's a decent game, but be prepared to spend more than a little real money if you want the goodies. The only other browser game I've played is Dragons of Atlantis, which is MMP (massively multi player) and is most definitely a game about fighting and attacking. There are (or I should say were, as I don't notice a lot of the bad mouthing that used to go on) a lot of angry people who play that game, either that or they're just plain mean. I've never actually gotten around to launching an attack on anything but glitch cities (inactive, player quit, but resources remain, so you can get them by attacking and you don't harm anyone who's just trying to get by), and tried to delete that account as well, but couldn't, so it sat idle for over a year. I am sorta playing now, but not to do much but log in every day and build a little. It recently sold to a new owner, so I'll see where they take it, but it isn't really a game I like all that much, and I wouldn't miss it if they ended it.

Re: Elvenar
Foe is pretty much as spot described it. The norwegian servers are as per usual a very peacful place, not much fighting going on there. I started playing when I was bored out of my wits in a temp job I had last autumn, the wits left me, and I left the job, but I kept the account and it suits my building side of me.
I love strategy games, and I have a thing for building (Civilization anyone??) I used to play Travian for years and years. But that is just too time consuming large money pit that I quit. Numbers of players have also dwindled down to a silly number. I do however miss a lot of the team spirit. I really would love a game that had more team interactions. I did try Asterix and friends and I think I managed to play that for a little over a year before I decided it was time to go back to Farmerama. Asterix and friends are pretty much about gathering resoruces, problem is that after you have reached to a ceretain level - there's nothing else to do. And even if you're in a team, that doesn't really matter. There is hardly any need for it, and without the need....
I am still looking for good games, so if anyone has some suggestion I'm all ears. I love games, I think maybe perhaps I could say I'm slightly a tad bit kinda addict

Re: Elvenar
I used to play Alpha Centauri a lot. (sid Meier) The pre pre pre game of civilization etc...
It isn't very HD, but it's still my favorite game, even now. (one can cheat, haha)
I too played travian, but indeed, money pit, and, for me personally, too complicated, and fighting was a MUST, but there never were any opponents, so that got me stuck mid-game.
And being addicted to a game.... is way better than being addicted to substances. As long as you can still work, pay the rent, eat and sleep, why not play?
I play because others go on vacation, out to dinner, family visits, a day out, having a shopping day,... I can't do any of those things, so for me, gaming is my relief, release, and escape, and entertainment.
I don't see the harm in that. ;-)
I also love simpler games like Jewel Quest, Yahtzee, Word Mojo, and Mahjong.

Re: Elvenar
Alpha Centauri is not the pre pre pre game of Civ. I remember it came out somewhere around Civ III before or after. The first Civ game was waaaay back in the early 90ties or late 80ties. But perhaps the first multiplayer of the them. Never liked it, just too dark and dull. I like history as well.
I do Gardenscapers on the phone sometimes, it's a match3 game. It's a time filler. If farmerama had a team option, I'd love it.

Re: Elvenar
I will have to look into Elvenar. I have tried a few other games, but hate the constant fighting in many of them.
Civilization is a favorite of mine for many years; with good strategy and the historical aspect. I also played Alpha Centauri, but finally quit after making it to the top level several times (got boring).

Re: Elvenar
I really like elvenar. It is a game of patience, cuz sometimes one gets stuck if you don't want to pay RL money, but other than that... what a gorgeous game, and I love that I don't have to fight. (yet) One can choose negotiate/pay, instead of fight.
And I loooove the eye candy, the absolutely beautiful buildings.

This is exactly what I thought too! I had played FoE for a little bit but I didn't like it so I only played farmerama.spotsbox wrote:I thought that layout looked familiar, lol. This was me! Not when I started when the neighborhood was changed well something like that I really don't remember much only that I used to change my avatar often and I prefered the red headed warriors haha.
