meba - No crying in the club???? Well I cried a lot yesterday when I heard dear Hector passed away.
But that gave me a laugh... when you said you had been your own mentor and gave yourself the boot!!!! ..............

Re: Farming goals
No need for apology meba. I had become very attached to Hector and his antics and personality. It is the 1 thread on the DS that I'm addicted to. BohoKaren's reindeer just fascinate me. I'm in awe of how much she interacts with them and how much personality each one of them have....but especially darling Hector.
I'm such a sap for animals. Last night I went out to check our mail...on the frown lawn was a small squirrel that didn't move.(normally they scurry away when you get within 10 feet). I walked over to it and then it pulled itself with it's front paws a few inches. His back paws were only dragging behind him. No sign of trauma....so I hoped it was stunned from a fall. I came in and told hubby the situation and we kept all our cats in. Next morning he's still there....although moved a few more feet.
Hubby asked me if I was going to try to take it to the Vet. (he knows what a sap am I am) LOL No...I replied....I'm going to take it some water....and then let nature take it's course.
Any suggestions???

Re: Farming goals
Aww Poor little baby. Ive raised a few squirrels and I found one that fell out of a tree and hit the concrete sidewalk. I took him in and began feeding him with a bottle every 2 hours. He was so sweet. It didnt take long to realize that he too was only pushing with his front feet. I tried so hard to save him but he eventually died. He really wanted to live too. It was a very sad day when he went away. I cried and cried and then buried him in my garden and put a little tombstone. I think when they are paralized in the back it is very hard for them. His name was peanut. I'll never forget him :(

I'm so sad Handsome Hector's gone, how devastating. My jaw hit the floor when I read she had lost him. He was a very precious part of Karen's life, herd, happiness. Poor Karen having to go thru something so horrible, and not just the loss of her favorite, but the others as well... she puts so much into her herd
