coyotes are illusive and the idea of one coming 20 feet from you...well, Maybe.

You have come even closer than 20 feet to a moose because in the cold month of December, he was hungry so you left out some feed, and on your way to the barn to feed your own livestock, he came up close to say thank you and wish you a Merry Moosemas!

Never been that close to a moose and I'm glad.  That scares me more than the others.  Yes, I have been that close to a coyote but only because it was habituated and I carefully removed myself as quickly as I could.  I took pictures to report to the Park Service in order that they could remove the animal before it caused problems.  (Yes, I'm sure it was euthanized but the alternative would be that it would hurt someone and then be euthanized.  A fed wild animal is usually a dead wild animal.)

The young bear was when I was 4.  I was sitting on a concrete block step, playing in the dirt only to look up and see the young bear approaching.  I got up, turned around, pounded on the door of the little travel trailer we were summering in and screamed at the top of my four year old lungs "Mommy, Daddy, there's a bear out here, there's a bear out here!"  Dad came out with his 6 ft long piece of pipe "bear club" only to find that the bear was gone.  I guess we scared each other.

You're both right! I hate fruit cake too! I didn't think it would be that easy because so many people I know like it. We used to make it together as a family at the holidays and my parents gave it as gifts to other family and friends. They loved it and looked forward to it. A very fond childhood memory of being together but I never ate it. My mom and uncle made some together last year and had a great time.
